Centerless Grinder I - 2nd shift at Regal Rexnord summary:

The Centerless Grinder I operates manual centerless grinding machines to produce precision parts according to specifications and quality standards. Responsibilities include machine setup, in-process inspections, and ensuring parts meet strict tolerances, with occasional recommendations for process improvements. This role requires experience in manufacturing environments, ability to read blueprints, and familiarity with quality systems such as AS9100 and Lean methodologies.

Expected Salary: $20 to $25 per hour

Brief Description

Manual Centerless Grinder Machinist is responsible for producing work meeting the drawing specifications and requirements.

Key Accountabilities

• Completes set-ups with supervision/assistance.
• Responsible for all phases of part operation set-up to achieve first article acceptance within allotment time.
• Perform and maintain accurate in-process quality inspection and records.
• May have opportunity to identify and recommend process improvements that reduce part quality variation.
• Look for ways to improve processes, procedures, and eliminate waste.
• Perform other related duties as assigned.

Desirable Experience, Capabilities and Success Factors

• Some experience working in a manufacturing environment.
• Some experience with of part operation set-up on various Manual Grinders/Hone equipment.
• CNC/Technology/Machinist trade school certification a plus.
• Ability to use Air Indicators, Dial Bore Gages, Deltronic pin, Profilometers and plate inspection methods, first article and in-process inspection of precision machined parts.
• Ability to learn to maintain required finishes, close tolerances (within .0002-.0005”) of I.D’s, O.D.'S, roundness, perpendicularity and concentricity.
• Understanding of machine tool accuracies, size offsets, tool pressures and required tooling a plus.
• Some knowledge of cutting tool feeds, speeds, and best tool life for aerospace materials a plus.
• Ability to follow verbal instructions and interpret blueprint and quality requirements in English.
• Ability to communicate with employees and management in a positive manner.
• Ability to lift a maximum of 25 lbs. (over 25 lbs. with assistance).
• Ideal candidate will have some experience with AS9100, 5S, Lean, and Six Sigma.
• Reliability is key, you will need to be on time and have minimal unscheduled time off.
• Stable work history.
