Mail Clerk/Carrier I – minimum $20/hr; Mail Clerk/Carrier II – minimum $23.50/hr. Contract Type Classified Salary If other, please specify Recruitment Type Open Position Details General Statement The mission of Mail Services is to provide the University community with reliable, customer-focused, cost-effective service and to efficiently integrate with the U.S. Postal Service. Duties and Responsibilities Provide cashiering assistance at the USPS Contract Station Customer Service Window (includes learning various service options, fee structures, mailing requirements and restrictions, and transport times). Perform opening and closing procedures (including internal and external record keeping and deposits). Process outbound campus mail (includes sorting by department charge number, weighing, determining charges, and metering mail). Sort USPS mail to appropriate mailboxes for our Contract Station (includes memorizing names and PO Box #’s). Provide solid back-up assistance for mail delivery to campus departments via multiple walking and driving routes (includes loading and unloading sacks, trays, tubs, parcels, and bags of mail into and out of vehicles). Provide manual assistance with large bulk mailings when needed. Required Qualifications – Experience, Education, Knowledge & Skills High school graduation or equivalent, plus progressively responsible related customer service experience or an equivalent combination of relevant education and/or experience. Demonstrated experience with postal rates, procedures, and services. Demonstrated experience performing high-volume, detailed oriented work with a great deal of accuracy.. Demonstrated experience operating general office equipment (scales, bar code scanners, computers, and printers.) Preferred Qualifications – Experience, Education, Knowledge & Skills Cashiering experience. Postal and/or mail room experience. The Successful Candidate Will Successfully interact with diverse groups of people, both internal and external to the organization. Communicate effectively with employees and the public both in person and over the phone. Ability to multitask, performing required functions with short, inflexible timelines. Establish and maintain effective working relations with co-workers and the public. Work independently with minimal supervision and as part of a team. Routinely shift duties as required and represent Facilities Services and its programs to others in a professional and courteous manner. Position Special Requirements/Additional Information Schedule is Monday – Friday, 7:30 am – 4:00 pm or 8:00 – 4:30, however, shift may vary depending on departmental need. An occasional 3-hour shift on Saturday may arise. This search is open to one of two position levels dependent upon relevant experience of the candidate. Mail Clerk/Carrier I – $19.10 Mail Clerk/Carrier II –$20.75 Must possess currently or be eligible to obtain a valid State of Montana Driver’s license and have an acceptable driving record (less than 12 points).
